CHAPTER INITIATIVES
Beta Alpha Sigma Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is committed to our founding principle of service, as a community-conscious, action-oriented organization. In 1920, our founders wanted to create an organization that was dedicated to making a lasting impact in its community. Beta Alpha Sigma Zeta continues that legacy of service to its community through many initiatives since its charter in 2016.
Most of our initiatives fall under Z-HOPE™ the international service program of the Sorority that has six primary objectives, corresponding measures of success, and a mechanism for chapter recognition.

ADOPT-A-SCHOOL
The Adopt-A-School initiative was established by Zeta Phi Sorority, Inc. in 2012 to partner with a Pre-K through 12th-grade school to bring about positive outcomes for students, faculty, staff, administration, and parents. BASZ has donated school supplies, backpacks, and much-needed essential PPEs during the pandemic for faculty and students of West Frederick Middle School, Frederick, MD

AUTUMN LAKE HEALTHCARE AT BALLENGER CREEK
Annually, Beta Alpha Sigma Zeta donates essential items to a local nursing home. Some of those items include shaving cream, hand sanitizer, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, tissues, and greeting cards for the elderly

S.H.I.P. OF FREDERICK COUNTY PARTNERSHIP
Organized through our Social Action Committee, Beta Alpha Sigma Zeta donates feminine hygiene and cleaning products to
S.H.I.P. (Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership) of Frederick County, MD

CHRISTMAS ALIVE
Every year during the Christmas season, BASZ 'adopts' one family through a program called Christmas Alive. We coordinate food donation pick-up from a local church and donate Christmas gifts to all family members provided by chapter members

PREMATURITY AWARENESS
On World Prematurity Awareness Day, November 17th, the Finer women of Frederick donated 20 Pampered Preemie Moms gift bags at the Frederick Health Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

ADOPT-A-STOP
Transit’s Adopt-a-Stop program encourages businesses, groups, and organizations to “adopt” or take responsibility for one of the county’s nearly 400 bus stops or shelters — cleaning up litter, reporting graffiti or damage to Transit, and letting the agency know about any service needs.
Adopters will be recognized with a sign at their stop and a certificate from the county thanking them for their support. The Adopt-a-Stop program is a great way to help people become more familiar with Transit since Transit is such an important part of our community.
